Dr. Keith Nice Joins Global Campaign to Transform Lives through the Gift of Vision

icare_logoDr. Keith Nice and Nice Eye Care have joined in the global fundraising initiative I CARE & SHARE with Optometry Giving Sight. Our goal is to help raise funds to eliminate one of the leading causes of vision impairment worldwide- uncorrected refractive error- simply by providing an eye exam and glasses. “The injustice of being blind in our world today, simply due to a lack of glasses, is completely unacceptable,” said Dr. Nice. “This is our opportunity to make a difference and to help give sight- and hope- to millions in need.”

According to Clive Miller, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight- US, there are over 600 million people around the world who are blind or vision impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye exam and a pair of glasses. Mr Miller said, “through the generous support of optometrists like Dr. Nice who donate to programs like I CARE & SHARE, we are able to transform lives in many developing communities.” Optometry Giving Sight is currently funding programs that focus on the delivery of of vision care, training of local eye care professionals and the development of infrastructure such as vision centers to deliver sustainable, affordable eye care services. Funds are currently directed to communities in Sri Lanka, South and East Africa, Latin America, South East Asia and Indigenous Australia.

At Nice Eye Care, we are proud of our contribution towards the elimination of global blindness. In our country we often take access to quality eye care for granted, but it is just not the case in many other places. Every pair of glasses purchased by our patients helps us support the I CARE & SHARE Program.
